True Confessions of a Feng Shui Practitioner
I just drew the bagua over my blueprint last week. And I’ve been living in this space now for 9 months.
The Bagua
For feng shui newbies, the bagua is a chart we practitioners use to locate 9 life areas.
It helps us pinpoint on paper–like a bird’s-eye view–where there are things that can challenge the feng shui of an area (walls, stairs, drains, appliances, missing areas, etc.) and things that can be auspicious, or good feng shui luck (5 element harmony, a good flow, extensions, etc.).
Since I’ve been a certified practitioner for 5 years now, I pretty much go around with the bagua in my head–making space assessments practically everywhere I go based on my educated guesstimate for where the 9 areas fall. And that’s what I did for my new place.
Similar to the way some think they’ll “get around” to dealing with a room’s clutter, I was always going to “get around” to drawing out the bagua. I’ve still made many feng shui adjustments, but there’s just something powerful about looking at things on paper. You get insight on another level, and catch things you’ve missed before.
Lately we’ve been having some water issues–water leaking and water damage. In feng shui terms this means trouble with money–money leaving you and problems with managing it. Umm, no thank you.
I was all over getting those things fixed.
Another water issue I hadn’t been aware of, which I only noticed after drawing the bagua out, was the number of drains in the Career area (5) and 1 in the Wealth area. Drains are the feng shui equivalent of money or chi being sucked away. After learning this, we are keeping our stoppers closed.

If you’re new to feng shui, you can find the Wealth area by using the feng shui map called The Bagua.
The Bagua
Place this map over your space with the lower portion lining up with the entrance.
Doing so, the Wealth Gua would be located in the back left corner of the room.
Important Notes:
1. Before you add a piece of amethyst to the Wealth area or do any other feng shui adjustment, you must ensure your clutter is cleared out. Clutter is the #1 inhibitor of good feng shui.
It blocks the flow of chi, so any amount of feng shui enhancements you do will be limited by it. Remember, a messy office with a piece of amethyst still doesn’t really have good feng shui.
2. Placing amethyst in your Wealth area (or any feng shui adjustment you do) must be accompanied by your envisioning the results, and believing them. Otherwise they probably won’t work. Be conscious about what energy you’re putting behind them.
